In my last two classes of social studies I have leanrnt alot about the Renaissance. I learnt that only the women used umbrellas. It was not at that time used for in the rain and men thought that they wernt useful. later on the coated them in oil to have protection from the rain. That the pencil wasnt invented yet and that pumkins were first grown in American. Paper money had not been invented yet so you had to carry around alot of heavy annoying coins in your pockets. Halloween wasn’t popular back then for how we see it today. I also learnt that Victor, Maria, and Sebastian lied to me and that I have really, really bad luck.

What is the issue?
“The divided Koreas sent trains lumbering through their heavily armed border for the first time in more than half a century Thursday, reaching another symbolic milestone in a reconciliation process often hindered by the North’s nuclear weapons ambitions. The divided Koreas sent trains lumbering through their heavily armed border for the first time in more than half a century Thursday, reaching another symbolic milestone in a reconciliation process often hindered by the North’s nuclear weapons ambitions. ”
So basicallly, the Koreans may be joinging once again as one country for the first time in about half a century!
One person thought that the only raeson they are joinging again is so that North Korea will have a better chance at attacking South Korea again.
Who is Involved?
The train driver (if there was one)
Koreans
The Government
People and their opinions
Americans
Pretty much the whole world
Who is affected and how?
The train driver becacuse he was the one actually leading the train making it possible for this to happen.
Koreans becasue they are the ones being united after so many years being rivals.
The government because they are allowing this to happen
The King becasue he is the ruler of The Koreas now.
People and their opinions because what has happened is affecting them beacuse they wikl either agree with it or protest agianst it.
Americans becsuse in the artical they mentioned how the outsiders being americans are affecting their country and may try to change it in some way.
The whole world becasue this could change the whole world with wars or make peace. There are many ways how this could affect the world.
What would you do if you were directly involved?
Well this isn’t a bad situation so there isnt much I could. This is a sitiation I oculd encourage throughout the world and make peace for it.

Lorenzo de’ Medici was a very important man. He spent a lot of time looking after his counrty. He was very important! I found a quote and it said that if there was no Lorenzo de Medici then there would be a HUGE part of history would be missing. He loved to sing and loved music. He also was very keen on writing poetry. Lorenzo made the law staiting that there was to be peace in Italy. I think that this is a very improtant law and that this could have saved many lives. He also enjoyed being friends with other countries as he did not like wars. Lorenzo was a very peaceful man as it seems. King Medici was well educated and surrounded himself with very well educated artists and scholars. He also encouraged a lot of people to become artits and share their talents with the world. I think that Lorenzo may be a very important person. Even if nobody realy knew who he was, becasueI didn’t before this project.

You all heard in Anthony’s blog about how North Korea is trying to sell weapons to the world. They are being arms dealers. They need to get help for their country.
I read another article sort of related to the one Anthony read.
This one was about North Korea saying to the Americans that they were going to shut down there Nuclear Plant. This could result as a HUGE problem but could also be good.
The possitive side of this is that if North Korea shuts down this plant then maybe there will be less trouble in the world. Maybe there will be less wars and conflicts.
But the negative side of this is they could easily be attaked. Then taken over. Or they could run ut of money because of problems. It is also taking the jobs away from many other people that work there.
1. What did you find interesting about this topic? In this topic I thought that it was interesting how one country can be in so much trouble that they start selling weapons to help themselves! They are just starting a possible way for more countries to start wars because they have the equipment. I found this a very interesting topic.
2. What did you like about the initial blog posting?
I like how in the initial blog posting Anthony knew all about the topic. I found Anthony’s blog posting really interesting but also a little confusing. It is really good to know that there are such problems going on around the world and is nice to be aware about the surroundings. It cant comment on the layout or the pictures because i didn’t see the actual blog. But Anthony knew his topic through and through.

I was a little confused with this assignment so I went on Google and researched some famous people. I came across this website which made a really good point. It said that actors are very skilled and have many talents. They do many movies where they have to research about their character. Some learn how to tap dance while others learn what its like to live on a farm. So these people are good at what they do but are also talented in SO many other ways. They reminded me of a Renaissance person.
After I thought about this more thoroughly I also came up with Bill Gates, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez, and Oprah Winfrey. Bill Gates because he has one of the most successful people in the world! He created and ran Microsoft! He also is amazingly giving when it comes to charity. He seems good all around. Angelina Jolie because she is an actress and kind of a house mom. She also is very caring and giving. Jennifer Lopez is a singer, dancer, actress, designer, and a good all round business woman. Finally, Oprah. She is and actress, miracle worker, talk-show host, philanthropist, and also a well rounded business woman. This is all I have chosen to write about but I know that there are many other amazingly talented people in this word.

There are many people tody who are willing to give up their lives for what they belive in. Or at least risk their lives. For example there are the Iraqi and American soilders who are putting many things at risk. For example their lives. They are fighting for their country and they have many many belifes that they should “win” the battle.
Another example is the muslims who pilgramige to Mecca. Not many years ago people would die durring the ceremonies of this religious time. Now they have made it better so nobody will become injured nex year but they have risked their lives (not that they new that they had the possbility of dieing).
My final example of someody who is willing to give up their lives for what they belive in is childrens parents. I think that they do so many things for the better of their children. For example in Africa some of the people who have nothing have parents who go to fid food and may never come back. Also there are just an everyday family who could encounter a very serious problem. Maybe somebody broke into your house. I hae heard of one mother who told her children to hide and she went out to find the man. She could have died. Just because she loved her children and didnt want them to die.
So now your know that there are many people who die for what they belive in today.

In the Middle Ages religion was very important! They based many daily activites on religoin. Such as the Monks. They dedicated their lives to please god! They didn’t marry and gave up and ordinary life style to teach and help others. They lived in Monastaries. When they went to pray they prayed in an are so shut out from the community that nobody would be able to distutrube them.
Monks -farmed, taught, prayed, helped sick and poor, built, fead the poor, made bread, and copied manuscripts.
Monks went and prayed at church about 8 times a day. Sometimes more! Even if you wernt a monk but a beliver in religion you would still be very respectfull of your gods decisions. If you broke his commands then you would be brutaly punished. They also spent many, many days pilgramiging to places and shrines. Some would walk bare foot becasue their shoes would break. It must have killed their feet!!!
Finally I would just like to say that these dedicated poeple are very carring for their god and community. And what I have just said isn’t even the end…

As many of you heard in Zaira’s presentation we all learnt that Darfur - in Sudan - is in alot of trouble. Here is my Response post to her presentation.
Recently the Chinese presedent, Hu Jintao, has offered Sudan alot of money to help them rebuild schools and many other needed places. This could be the end to Darfurs many problems. IN return or the money that has been given to Sudans government they have traded two thirds of their oil. This is alot of oil that could in the future “break” Darfur.
The following is a quote from the artical i read: “China undertook to build schools and a new presidential palace, reduced import tariffs on some Sudanese goods, granted a loan of 600 million yuan (US$77.4 million) for infrastructure, and gave a grant of a US$40 million.
The SUNA agency said China also canceled debts of 470 million yuan (US$60.7 million) and US$19 million. “
As you probably know this is alot of money! It could be a scheme where China is secretly trying to take over Sudan Or it could be and act of friendship. What do you think?!?!
Now I will answer two questions.
1. What did you find interesting about this topic?
In this topic I thought that it was intereasting how one counry can be in so much trouble that people are actually dying! I think that there are many ways that people could help but they just dont have the time and kindheartedness. When I read this article I found out that there is actually one man who does care and did try to help the Sudanese people.
2. What did you like about the initial blog posting?
I like how in the initial blog posting Zaira knew all about the topic. I also enjoyed the topic that Zair picked. It is really good to know that there are such problems going on around the worl and is nice to be aware about the surrondings. I also enjoyed that Zaira didn’t just pick one picture. Although the pictures were heartbreaking to see it was nice to now how bad some people have. It really made me realize how lucky I am!!!!
